Mr. Knoeckel's Social Studies Site
I would like to take the opportunity to let you know a little about myself, as well as what I believe about learning.
I grew up in the Cherry Creek School District. I attended Homestead Elementary, West Middle School, and Cherry Creek High School. After graduating from Creek in 2006, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel HIll where I studied History, Political Science and Classical Humanities. I also earned my Masters in Teaching as a Tar Heel.
When I'm not at school, I love taking advantage of everything Colorado has to offer. I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, camping, snowboarding, and all the Colorado sports teams. I also LOVE the University of North Carolina: I will be wearing something Carolina Blue almost every day, and come college sports season, I will always be happy to keep you up to date on how UNC is doing!
As a teacher, I believe it is important to help students develop the skills they will need to function both in school and in the world. I believe that being able to express our ideas and defend them with evidence is important, and that we must be able to think for ourselves.
This year I will be teaching Street Law and 10th Grade World History. These classes provide students with the opportunity to learn about the world around them and how it developed into what it is today so that we may be able to better understand the issues confronting us.
I am so excited to be back at Cherry Creek High School and I look forward to working with the Creek Community.
